I've always been happiest understanding how things work — and preferably building them myself. It started with electronics, and since then a homelab has been added: a Proxmox server, a NAS and a handful of self-built applications in Docker. I don't build apps to learn a framework; I build them because there's a concrete everyday problem that needs solving.

Most of my projects are made for my own household. My daughter is in upper-secondary and has ADD, so I built a math helper that explains one step at a time and never gives the answer. We ran out of milk too often, so the shopping list learned to ”guess” what we're missing. And the house number on the wall changes its graphics with the season, because — well, why not.

I like passing things on — I've taught kids microcontrollers and 3D printing at Coding Pirates, and I've sat on the board of the local softball club. And I follow the house closely: solar, battery, EV charging and more all get logged in Home Assistant, and some of those numbers you can see live further down the page.

At work it's the same interest, just with data towers, camera systems and device fleets instead of LED panels and shopping lists. I lead a small specialist team in hardware and IoT, handle the systems integration between equipment and platforms, and still build the tools myself when it makes sense — device dashboards for proactive monitoring came about in exactly the same way as my personal projects.
